Eliminate digestive problems — and more — with this simple 16-hour approach

The other day, I discovered a pretty interesting fact about the human body: The lining of your intestines completely renews itself every five days.

And what’s even more intriguing is that researchers have found that you can work with this natural bodily process to treat — and even reverse — most digestive issues. Before I explain how, let me give you a bit of background on this incredibly important bodily function…

Your intestinal stem cells are in charge of this regeneration cycle — a cycle that also helps your gut fight off infections and all kinds of other digestive problems.

As we age, so do our stem cells, which means our intestines are not efficiently repaired and protected, making them more vulnerable to complications.

Now, let’s get into this game-changing study…

Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Department of Biology believe that fasting might give stem cells a boost. After putting mice on a 24-hour fast, the MIT team found the animals’ stem cells doubled their regenerative capacity.

Further analysis showed that fasting caused the cells to switch from their usual carbohydrate-burning metabolism to metabolizing fatty acids instead. This change appears to be the catalyst that drove the stem cells to become so much more regenerative.

The MIT team believes that a simple 24-hour fast could have similar positive effects on older adults who are recovering from gastrointestinal infections, or cancer patients recovering from chemotherapy.

In fact, a brief fast can have positive effects on anyone who’d like to improve their digestive health, according to Dr. Fred Pescatore.

In his Drug-Free Protocol for Reversing Alzheimer’s and Dementia, Dr. Pescatore points out that fasting is an easy way to achieve ketosis. As I mentioned in a recent piece I sent you, your body enters a state of ketosis when it’s prompted to burn fat instead of carbs.

As Dr. Pescatore explains: “By depriving the body of all calories for an extended period of time, say 12 to 16 hours, you burn through all the carbohydrates you have on hand. And when that happens, your body turns to its fat stores for energy, putting you in a ketogenic state.”

And this is a state we should all strive for, in Dr. Pescatore’s opinion. It’s a natural mechanism of our bodies, and as the MIT research shows, it appears to reset your intestinal tract to optimal efficiency.

Dr. Pescatore admits that the idea of going without food for most of a day might seem miserable, but it’s really not difficult. He says: “Once you get through the initial adjustment period, your mental clarity will improve, you’ll be free of blood sugar spikes and crashes, and you won’t feel deprived at all.”

Dr. Pescatore outlines a safe plan for fasting, as well as the many benefits of ketosis (which also includes improved brain function and protection) in his Drug-Free Protocol for Reversing Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Click here for more information about this learning tool, or to enroll today.
