Your juiciest joint health remedy yet

If you’ve been searching for a safe way to relieve arthritis pain, look no further.

It’s delicious and easy to find. In fact, you can pick up this arthritis-relieving remedy on your next grocery run or trip to the farmer’s market.

This remarkable pain reliever is none other than the humble blueberry — one of the most antioxidant-rich foods in the world.

Cooling off inflammation

Today I want to share some of the most exciting research that’s come out recently.

Finnish researchers fed lab animals an inflammatory diet and tested inflammation markers. When this was repeated with the addition of wild blueberries to the diet, inflammation markers (such as interferon proteins, which trigger immune response) dropped. The scientists concluded that blueberries “reduce the development of systemic inflammation.”

In another test of wild blueberries, University of Maine researchers fed the berries to lab animals and noted the reduction of three key inflammation markers:

  • C-reactive protein
  • Interleukin 6
  • Tumor necrosis factor alpha

And when North Carolina University researchers fed extracts of wild blueberries to inflammation-induced animals, they observed a drop in genetic markers for two pro-inflammatory compounds: COX-2 and interleukin 1 beta.

In another study by the University of Connecticut, interleukin 1 beta and tumor necrosis factor (a cell-signaling protein involved in inflammation) also dropped when animals were fed blueberries.

Dangers of “low-grade” inflammation

Of course, addressing inflammation is the most effective way to reduce the pain of arthritis and heal arthritic joints.

This is the core message of Dr. Marc Micozzi’s Arthritis Relief & Reversal Protocol.

But Dr. Micozzi emphasizes that inflammation is far more complex than it might seem at first. And he adds, “Understanding a little bit more about inflammation will help you understand why blueberries are such a potent anti-arthritis food.”

Dr. Micozzi explains that the chronic pain you feel with arthritis is a low-grade inflammation that has the potential to cause vast collateral damage. Cells throughout your body are battered by high-powered immune compounds (including C-reactive protein, interleukins, and tumor necrosis factor alpha, all of which I mentioned in one of the above studies).

These and other “pro-inflammatory” compounds play a key role in triggering arthritis, as well as other debilitating conditions like cancer, diabetes, dementia, high blood pressure, and arterial disease — just to name a few.

The secret behind the blueberry’s benefits

With such formidable foes, how does the tiny blueberry break through to accomplish its remarkable healing task?

Dr. Micozzi answers that with one word: Polyphenols. As he puts it, “Polyphenols are profoundly anti-inflammatory.”

And he adds: “Blueberries are super-rich in polyphenols, plant chemicals such as [eight different types of] phenolic acids, anthocyanins (which give blueberries their dark blue color), chlorogenic acid (the same antioxidant found in coffee), and pterostilbene (a compound similar to resveratrol, but more bioactive).”

To ensure you’re getting the highest concentrations of those healing components, Dr. Micozzi recommends you look for wild blueberries, which are significantly richer in polyphenols and anti-inflammatory compounds.

That’s because plants produce bioactive phenols and other compounds to protect themselves from all the stressors in the wild, as Dr. Micozzi explains. In comparison, cultivated plants are unchallenged by wild stressors, so they produce far fewer of the compounds that help blueberries survive in the wild.

If you can’t find wild (or at least organic) blueberries in your area, Dr. Micozzi also recommends supplementing with at least 1,000 mg (1 gram) of blueberry extract daily. You can find this in either a dietary supplement or water-soluble powder form. At this consistent dosage level, it’s more likely to benefit your joints.

And that’s not all these berries can do. Dr. Micozzi details other ways this little blue fruit can offer big bonuses in regards to your health: “You’ll get many benefits besides joint protection and pain relief. Studies show blueberries can help fight or reverse weight gain, gum disease, immune problems, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and dementia. Not bad for a tiny little fruit!”
