Fight cancer with a very different kind of fish oil

Here’s an odd fact—sharks almost never get cancer. In fact, they seem to enjoy a resistance to diseases and infections of all sorts.

But according to Dr. Fred Pescatore, this isn’t too surprising. Shark liver oil is packed with high amounts of two unique compounds: alkylglycerols—or AKGs—and squalene. And they both offer some impressive anti-cancer benefits.

In Dr. Pescatore’s Essential Cancer Protocol, he explains “AKGs occur naturally in the blood-forming organs of the body—the spleen, liver, and especially bone marrow. But they’re also present in neutrophils, which are the most abundant type of white blood cell in your body.”

Dr. Astrid Brohult, a Swedish oncologist working with leukemia cancer patients in the 1950s, was one of the first contemporary doctors to realize the potential of AKGs-rich shark liver oil. Brohult and her husband Sven, a biochemist, found that AKGs inhibit cancer spread and growth, as well as prevent radiation sickness.

As Dr. Pescatore explains, “In one of the Brohult’s many AKG studies, cancer patients given shark liver oil before, during and after radiation treatment had 50 percent fewer radiation injuries and side effects. The patients also saw their tumors start to shrink—even before radiation therapy began!”

And in another Brohult study, researchers gave a shark liver oil supplement to a group of cervical cancer patients who received radiation. Another group of patients got radiation with no supplement.

One year later, survival was slightly higher in the shark liver group, but five years later 51 percent of the radiation-only participants were still alive, compared to 65 percent of those who took shark oil.

Now, if this were the full extent of shark liver oil’s cancer-fighting benefits, it would be impressive. But there’s more…

Squalene—another safe, natural, cancer therapy

As I mentioned earlier, shark liver oil contains another remarkable compound called squalene.

Dr. Pescatore notes that squalene is a potent antioxidant that has been shown to stimulate immune function, soak up toxins, and may even help to lower cholesterol and triglycerides levels.

“But most importantly,” he adds, “squalene—like AKGs—appears to hold promise as a safe, natural, adjunct cancer therapy. Studies in mice suggest it can halt the progression of several cancers—including colon, lung, and skin—when administered before or during treatment.”

In addition to shark liver oil, squalene is also found in olive oil—which Dr. Pescatore believes could help account for lower risk of cancer among those who follow the Mediterranean diet.

Still, Dr. Pescatore says shark liver oil is by far the richest source of this powerful compound.

And he notes, “Shark liver oil has a biochemical profile you won’t find in any other fish in the sea. Which, of course, explains why European doctors include it in their cancer protocols. And why I do, too.”

Dr. Pescatore generally recommends a dose of 1,000 mg, twice per day, to raise white blood cell counts—a benefit that will strengthen your body’s defenses against everything—from cancer to the common cold.

And he adds, “Some cancer patients may need to take much more. I recommend working with a practitioner who can help you tailor a regimen to your specific needs.”
