The delicious cooking oil that can save your heart [It’s NOT olive oil]

Olive oil may have stolen the spotlight when it comes to healthy cooking oils. But it turns out there’s another oil that offers just as many benefits—if not more. In fact, macadamia nut oil has been a staple in Dr. Fred Pescatore’s kitchen for years.

Not only does macadamia nut oil have a delicious, rich buttery flavor—it’s packed with nutrients like potassium, magnesium, calcium, selenium, vitamin E, niacin, and folic acid.

And as Dr. Pescatore explains in his Ultimate Heart Protection-Protocol, “By simply switching up your cooking oil with macadamia nut oil, you’ll start controlling one of the major risk factors for heart disease—obesity.”

I’m sure you know that extra pounds mean higher blood pressure, higher blood sugar, and higher blood fats—all of which contribute to a higher risk for a heart attack or stroke. And the startling truth is that obesity increases the risk of dying from heart disease by 50 percent in women and a whopping 72 percent in men.

But according to a recent study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, macadamia oil can help you lose weight and even improve your odds of dying from heart disease.

Researchers assigned participants to one of two diets. One diet was high in palmitic acid—the main fatty acid in palm oil and animal fat. The other diet was high in oleic acid, which is the primary monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) in olive oil, avocados, and—most abundantly—in macadamia nut oil.

Dr. Pescatore shares the impressive results: “The group that consumed mostly MUFAs every day were more active, burned more fat, and even had fewer feelings of anger and hostility. That’s more good news for the heart since hostility doubles your risk for heart disease.”

And even though olive oil is also rich in MUFAs, Dr. Pescatore still strongly favors MUFA-rich macadamia nut oil—for a few different reasons…

First, Dr. Pescatore says, “Buying extra-virgin olive oil isn’t an ironclad guarantee of health… In fact, a recent exposé found that many of these oils are spiked with low-quality, non-olive oils. Not exactly the vote of confidence most health-conscious consumers are after.”

Plus, even if you buy pure, MUFA-rich, estate-bottled olive oil, it still has a smoke point of about 325 degrees—which is 125 degrees lower than macadamia nut oil. And this low smoke point means it could start turning into heart-harming trans fats even during a light sauté.

Additionally, macadamia nut oil contains 10 percent more MUFAs than the highest quality olive oil—a detail Dr. Pescatore feels is by far the biggest benefit. He points out that MUFAs do much more than just help you lose weight. They can also help…

  • Maintain healthy blood sugar
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Promote healthy cholesterol levels
  • Support memory power

“As a rule,” Dr. Pescatore says, “Just do what I do. Save the olive oil for a finishing drizzle. And do the bulk of your cooking with macadamia nut oil instead.”
